Plecanatide
Guanylate cyclase-C agonist for chronic constipation.
What it is
Plecanatide (Trulance) is a synthetic guanylate cyclase-C receptor agonist FDA-approved for chronic idiopathic constipation and IBS-C. It is structurally related to native uroguanylin.
Mechanism of action
Same as linaclotide — guanylate cyclase-C activation in the GI tract promoting fluid secretion and accelerated transit.
Approved indications
- Chronic idiopathic constipation
- Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation
