Focus and anxiety support in Houston, starting with the real cause.
Brain fog, poor focus, or anxiety that feels out of proportion? We look for the physical drivers — hormones, thyroid, nutrient deficiencies, and sleep — and build a plan around what we find.

Foggy, wired, or both — and nobody can tell you why.
Trouble concentrating. A mind that won’t switch off at night. Anxiety that seems out of proportion to what’s actually happening. Losing words mid-sentence. Many people are told it’s stress, age, or “just how things are” — and handed a generic answer.
Often there’s a physical driver underneath. Shifting hormones in perimenopause or with low testosterone, thyroid problems, low iron or B12, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, and chronic stress physiology can all affect focus and mood. Finding the driver changes the plan.
Focus & Anxiety Support at The Tide starts with a physician consultation and targeted labs, then builds a plan around what we find.
Common drivers of brain fog and anxiety.
These are the issues we evaluate most often. Many patients have more than one.
Hormonal shifts
Fluctuating estrogen and progesterone in perimenopause, low testosterone in men and women, and thyroid dysfunction are common, under-recognized causes of anxiety, irritability, and poor focus.
Workup: Sex hormones · Full thyroid panelNutrient deficiencies
Low iron stores, B12, folate, and vitamin D deficiencies can cause fatigue, low mood, and cognitive slowing — and are easy to miss on basic labs.
Workup: Ferritin · B12 · Folate · Vitamin DSleep and stress physiology
Fragmented sleep, untreated sleep apnea, cortisol dysregulation, and blood sugar swings all impair concentration and heighten anxiety. See why sleep in your 40s deserves real attention.
Workup: Sleep history · Metabolic markersA plan built around what we find.
There’s no single fix for focus or anxiety. Your plan depends on your labs, history, and goals.

What a plan may include.
Depending on your results, your physician may recommend one or more of the following.
- Hormone replacement therapy or testosterone therapy when hormones are driving symptoms
- Thyroid evaluation and treatment, or coordination with your endocrinologist
- Correcting iron, B12, vitamin D, or other deficiencies
- Sleep and stress strategies, including screening for sleep apnea
- FDA-approved medications when appropriate, and coordination with your therapist or psychiatrist
From consultation to plan, in real medicine.
Proper workup first, then a plan based on what your labs and history actually show.
Initial consultation
In person at our Houston clinic. We discuss your symptoms, when they started, sleep, stress, cycle or hormone changes, medications, and what you’ve already tried.
Targeted labs
Hormones, full thyroid panel, ferritin and iron studies, B12, folate, vitamin D, and metabolic markers — chosen for your situation.
Your plan
Your physician walks through the results and recommends a plan — and explains why.
Follow up & adjust
Check-ins and repeat labs where needed. We adjust based on how you’re actually feeling and functioning.

What we can — and can’t — do.
We’re a physician-led clinic focused on the physical drivers of focus and mood. Here’s where we fit.
Where we can help
- Finding hormonal, thyroid, nutritional, or sleep-related drivers
- Treating those drivers with a plan you understand
- Coordinating with your therapist, psychiatrist, or primary care physician
- Tracking progress over time with follow-up and labs
What we don’t do
- Replace mental health care for anxiety disorders, depression, or ADHD
- Provide crisis or emergency care
- Offer quick fixes without a workup
- Promise specific results

Before you book.
Can hormones really cause anxiety and brain fog?
Yes. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid hormone all affect brain chemistry, sleep, and stress response. Anxiety and brain fog are among the most common symptoms of perimenopause and are frequent in men with low testosterone. Read more about perimenopause anxiety and brain fog.
What labs do you run?
Typically sex hormones, a full thyroid panel, ferritin and iron studies, B12, folate, vitamin D, and metabolic markers. We tailor the panel to your symptoms and history.
Do you offer Semax or other nootropic peptides?
Not at this time. Semax is not FDA-approved. In July 2026, FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee recommended adding Semax to the 503A Bulks List, but FDA has not completed that process. We will update this page if the regulatory status changes. Read more in our Semax library entry.
Will you work with my therapist or psychiatrist?
Yes. We see our role as finding and treating the physical drivers, and we coordinate with your existing mental health care rather than replacing it.
How much does it cost?
Consultations start at $49 (see pricing). Lab and treatment costs depend on what your plan includes, and we review them with you before anything starts. We don’t bill insurers directly, but can provide documentation suitable for HSA/FSA submission.
