Soft-Tissue Recovery

The injury that won’t heal usually has a reason.

Tendon pain that flares every time you return to training. A sprain that never feels quite right. A post-surgical recovery that’s stalled. Most soft-tissue injuries heal on their own — the ones that don’t usually have something in the way: the wrong loading, incomplete rehab, poor sleep, low protein, hormonal changes, or inflammation that never settled.

Soft-Tissue Recovery at The Tide is a physician-led plan to find what’s slowing your healing and fix it — coordinated with your physical therapist, surgeon, or sports medicine physician.

We see tendinopathy (elbow, shoulder, Achilles, patellar), ligament sprains, muscle strains, and post-surgical soft-tissue recovery.

What We Look For

Three reasons soft tissue stops healing.

Most stalled injuries involve at least one of these. Many involve all three.

Reason 01

Loading and rehab

Tendons and ligaments heal in response to the right amount of load. Too much, too little, or the wrong progression keeps them stuck. We review your rehab and coordinate with your physical therapist.

Evidence: Strong · Progressive loading is first-line care
Reason 02

Hormones and metabolism

Low testosterone, perimenopausal estrogen changes, thyroid problems, and insulin resistance can all slow tissue repair. Targeted labs show whether any of these are part of your picture.

Workup: Hormones · Thyroid · Metabolic markers
Reason 03

Recovery inputs

Sleep, protein intake, iron and vitamin D status, and training load outside of rehab all affect how quickly tissue rebuilds. Small fixes here often make the biggest difference.

Workup: Sleep · Nutrition · Ferritin · Vitamin D
Your Plan

A recovery plan built around your injury.

Every plan starts with understanding the injury. Then we address what’s actually slowing it down.

Realistic Expectations

What we can — and can’t — do.

Soft-tissue healing takes time. Here’s where we fit.

Where we can help

  • Finding the factors slowing your healing
  • Aligning medical care with your rehab
  • Treating hormonal, metabolic, or nutritional issues that affect repair
  • Giving you a clear, realistic return-to-activity plan

What we don’t do

  • Replace physical therapy or surgical care when it’s needed
  • Treat complete tendon ruptures or structural instability without a surgical opinion
  • Skip diagnosis for an injury that hasn’t been evaluated
  • Promise specific timelines or outcomes
Common Questions

Before you book.

What injuries do you see?

Tendinopathy (tennis and golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff, Achilles, patellar), ligament sprains, muscle strains, and post-surgical soft-tissue recovery. If your injury hasn’t been evaluated, we’ll start with the right imaging or referral.

Do I need imaging first?

Not necessarily. Bring any imaging or records you have. If the injury hasn’t been properly evaluated, we’ll coordinate imaging or a sports medicine or orthopedic opinion before building a plan.

Will you work with my physical therapist?

Yes. Physical therapy is the foundation of soft-tissue recovery. We align your medical plan with your PT and coordinate with your surgeon or specialist when relevant.

How much does it cost?

Consultations start at $49 (see pricing). Lab and treatment costs depend on what your plan includes, and we review them with you before anything starts. We don’t bill insurers directly, but can provide documentation suitable for HSA/FSA submission.

Do I have to come to your Houston clinic?

For the initial consultation, yes. After we’ve established care, follow-up visits can often be handled via telehealth for established patients in Texas and select other states.
