Also known as ยท NA-Semax-Amidate

N-Acetyl Semax Amidate

Chemically modified analog of Semax. Not FDA-approved; investigational.

What it is

N-Acetyl Semax Amidate (NA-Semax-Amidate) is a modified analog of Semax with N-acetylation at the N-terminus and amidation at the C-terminus. These structural modifications are intended to extend the peptide’s half-life compared to standard Semax.

The compound is more recently developed than standard Semax and has substantially less research. N-Acetyl Semax Amidate is not FDA-approved for any use in the United States.

Mechanism of action

Proposed mechanisms are extrapolated from laboratory and animal research on standard Semax, which has been reported to increase BDNF/NGF expression and influence dopaminergic and cholinergic systems in animal models. The structural modifications are intended to affect pharmacokinetics rather than fundamental pharmacology, but this has not been confirmed in published studies.

Clinical evidence

Published research on NA-Semax-Amidate specifically is very limited. Claims about it are largely extrapolated from Russian studies on standard Semax, which have not been evaluated by the FDA. Well-controlled human trials establishing the effectiveness and safety of NA-Semax-Amidate are lacking.

Why we don’t prescribe it at The Tide

The Tide does not prescribe or offer NA-Semax-Amidate. The Russian clinical research and approval were conducted with the standard Semax formulation; whether the modified analog has any of the same effects in people has not been tested.

Side effects and contraindications

Human safety has not been established, and long-term effects are unknown. Safety data are lacking for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Products sold outside regulated channels (for example, as “research peptides”) may vary in purity, dose, and sterility.
