Sermorelin in Houston, with the clinical track record to support it.
Compounded sermorelin (not FDA-approved), considered only after a full workup and IGF-1 labs for adults with documented age-related GH-axis decline.

A GHRH analog, explained plainly.
Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) — specifically the first 29 amino acids, which contain the biologically active region. Rather than supplying exogenous growth hormone directly, sermorelin stimulates your own pituitary to release GH in its natural pulsatile pattern. The result is GH support that works with your body’s regulatory mechanisms rather than overriding them.
The brand-name product Geref (sermorelin) was FDA-approved in the 1990s for diagnosing GH deficiency in children and was later discontinued. Sermorelin prescribed today is a compounded preparation and is not FDA-approved; it may be considered after evaluation for adults with documented age-related GH-axis decline.
The case for sermorelin, honestly.
Sermorelin is a compounded preparation with limited adult trial data. Here is what is and isn’t known.
Sleep and the GH rhythm
Natural GH release peaks during deep slow-wave sleep. Small studies have looked at sermorelin and sleep quality; benefit in adults has not been established.
Evidence: Limited · Small studiesLab-guided monitoring
IGF-1 is the main lab marker used to assess the GH axis. It is checked before any prescription and rechecked at follow-up.
Workup: IGF-1 · Metabolic panel · ThyroidWho it isn’t for
Sermorelin is not appropriate with active malignancy, pituitary disease, uncontrolled diabetes, or pregnancy, and it is never prescribed for muscle gain, athletic performance, or anti-aging.
Screening: History · Labs · ContraindicationsSermorelin is never a substitute for the foundations.
Sleep, nutrition, activity, and stress management come first. Sermorelin, when considered at all, is one part of a broader plan.

Foundations first. Always.
Your natural GH rhythm depends on things that support health generally — adequate sleep, regular physical activity, appropriate protein, and managed stress. These come before any prescription.
- Regular physical activity suited to you
- 7–8 hours of sleep — the largest natural GH pulse occurs during deep sleep
- Adequate protein intake and overall nutritional foundation
- Managed stress and cortisol — chronically elevated cortisol blunts GH effects
From consultation to first dose, in real medicine.
Sermorelin prescribing follows the same clinical pattern as any thoughtful prescribing decision — proper workup first, then a decision based on what your labs and history actually show.
Initial consultation
In person at our Houston clinic. We discuss your symptoms, goals, sleep, training, and whether sermorelin fits your situation — or whether foundations, hormone optimization, or another approach makes more sense. No prescription written this day.
Comprehensive lab work
A full panel at LabCorp or Quest — IGF-1 (the most useful proxy for endogenous GH activity), comprehensive metabolic panel, thyroid, testosterone (if relevant), inflammatory markers. The labs that drive dose selection.
Protocol design
Your provider designs your plan based on your labs, goals, and history, and explains how it will be monitored.
First prescription
Sermorelin as prescribed by your provider, with injection instructions and a monitoring schedule. Response varies, and benefit is not guaranteed.
Reassessment
Comprehensive review at 12 weeks: repeat IGF-1, symptom response, dose adjustment if needed. Then every 6 months long-term. We have an honest conversation about whether continuation makes sense.

What sermorelin can — and can’t — do.
Compounded sermorelin is not FDA-approved, and evidence in adults is limited. Here’s what to realistically expect.
What to know
- May be considered after evaluation for adults with documented age-related GH-axis decline
- Stimulates your own pituitary rather than supplying GH directly
- Is monitored with follow-up visits and repeat IGF-1 labs
What it can’t do
- Replace sleep, activity, nutrition, or stress management
- Deliver “GH replacement”–level effects — it’s a GH stimulator, not a substitute for prescription HGH
- Be appropriate for patients with active malignancy or pituitary adenoma
- Be prescribed for muscle gain, athletic performance, or anti-aging
- Be approved by the FDA in current commercial form — no FDA-approved sermorelin product is currently marketed
- Work for everyone — response varies, and we reassess honestly at 12 weeks
This page describes compounded sermorelin, which is not FDA-approved; no FDA-approved sermorelin product is currently marketed. Available human clinical evidence in adults is limited. Information on this page is provided for educational purposes; clinical decisions are made individually during provider consultation. See our full disclaimers for additional context.
Before you book.
How much does sermorelin cost in Houston?
Sermorelin typically runs $150–$300/month depending on dose. Our ongoing program fees cover physician oversight, lab review, and structured monitoring separately. Specifics during consultation, no surprises.
Do you offer CJC-1295 or ipamorelin?
No. CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are not FDA-approved and do not currently have a legal compounding pathway, so we do not offer them. Sermorelin is the GH-releasing peptide we may consider when clinically appropriate.
Is sermorelin the same as HGH?
No. Sermorelin is not HGH — it’s a peptide that stimulates your own pituitary to release GH. It is not prescribed for athletic performance.
How is it taken?
Administration, timing, and dosing are set by your provider based on your evaluation and labs.
How is it monitored?
With follow-up visits and repeat IGF-1 labs. At each review we discuss honestly whether continuing makes sense.
Do you accept insurance?
Peptides without FDA approval are not typically covered by insurance. Our clinical service fees (consultations starting at $49, ongoing program fees) cover physician oversight, lab review, and monitoring separately. We can provide documentation suitable for HSA/FSA submission.
